NewRelic Founder & CEO to Speak at 4th Cloud Computing Expo

Lewis Cirne will examine how today’s revolutionary on-demand tools can help you - whether you use or provide cloud services

When application performance is not what the cloud customer expected, who’s at fault? The cloud provider’s infrastructure? The application owner’s code? The platform vendor’s deployment tools? The external services the application uses? The database tier?

The answers to these questions will be provided at SYS-CON's 4th International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo by NewRelic Founder & CEO Lewis Cirne, who will be giving a breakout session at the popular event, which is being held November 2-4 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.

The session is called "To Stop the Cloud Blame Storm, You Must See Inside the Running Cloud Application."

"Everyone concerned about application performance will need to monitor, troubleshoot and optimize cloud-based web applications," notes Cirne. "Only by seeing inside the production application as it is running can developers, cloud and platform providers, and IT operations teams find the answers and fix the problems."

His argument will be that visibility into the application layer is critical to successful cloud use. In his session, he says, delegates will see how today’s revolutionary on-demand tools can help you whether you use or provide cloud services.

About the Speaker: Lew Cirne is the founder of New Relic, the first provider of on-demand (SaaS) application management tools for cloud or datacenter applications. A seasoned entrepreneur, technologist, and enterprise software pioneer, he has been focused on application performance management for more than ten years. Cirne holds seven patents related to application performance technology. Most recently he was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Benchmark Capital. He founded and was first CEO of Wily Technology and earlier held senior engineering positions at Apple and Hummingbird Communications.

Cirne's session will among other things underline how we are in the midst of a revolutionary change in how applications are sold, delivered, deployed and managed.

The conference is co-located at the Santa Clara Convention Center with the 7th International Virtualization Conference & Expo.

TechCrunch reported that "Berlin-based relayr, maker of the WunderBar, an Internet of Things (IoT) hardware dev kit which resembles a chunky chocolate bar, has closed a $2.3 million seed round, from unnamed U.S. and Switzerland-based investors. The startup had previously raised a €250,000 friend and family round, and had been on track to close a €500,000 seed earlier this year — but received a higher funding offer from a different set of investors, which is the $2.3M round it’s reporting."
The Industrial Internet revolution is now underway, enabled by connected machines and billions of devices that communicate and collaborate. The massive amounts of Big Data requiring real-time analysis is flooding legacy IT systems and giving way to cloud environments that can handle the unpredictable workloads. Yet many barriers remain until we can fully realize the opportunities and benefits from the convergence of machines and devices with Big Data and the cloud, including interoperability, data security and privacy.
