Kaiserslautern/Germany, December 17, 2009 – Netbiscuits, a leading software platform for the development and hosting of mobile websites, and Munich-based IDG Communications Media AG, a German subsidiary of International Data Group (IDG), a leading media company for information and communication technology based in Boston, are announcing their cooperation.
Marking the start of this collaboration, two mobile portals and one application for the iPhone have been realized. The mobile portal used by GameStar, the technical medium for PC and online games, was implemented by Netbiscuits. On http://mobile.gamestar.de, it offers cell phone users news from the games world. The “Charts” and “Releases” section presents and rates the latest games. A search function, which provides a convenient means of finding information on any games, goes to complete the offering.
IDG also called upon Netbiscuits’ expertise for the development of the iPhone application “Speedmeter”. This innovative application, which is available as a free download via the iPhone App Store, enables users to test the speed of their own mobile Internet access.
The mobile portal used by PC Welt, the leading medium for computer and technology, digital lifestyle and business IT, was realized by IDG as a proprietary development. For this purpose, Netbiscuits’ software platform for the development and delivery of mobile websites is available online, along with all the necessary tools and interfaces. The portal provides news reports, product tests, a product search engine, plus top 10 lists in numerous different product categories.
“Our market evaluation showed us that Netbiscuits was the right strategic partner for mobilizing our content and services”, says Canio Martino, Member of the Executive Board of IDG Magazine Media GmbH. “In addition to the quality of the technology platform and the professional project management, the most convincing aspect for us was the possibility of being able to realize mobile portals in-house efficiently and cost-effectively on the basis of Netbiscuits”, says Dominik Grau, Director Online of IDG Magazine Media GmbH.
“We are delighted that more and more customers are using Netbiscuits as technology platform in an effort to develop their mobile services themselves”, says Michael Neidhöfer, CEO of Netbiscuits. “The mobile offerings of IDG are tailored precisely to their respective target groups, and as such set a shining
