Onsite Finalists Announced In 2005 TopCoder Open Sponsored by Sun Microsystems

Top Programmers from Around the Globe Set to Compete in World Championship of Programming

GLASTONBURY, Conn., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- TopCoder, Inc., the leader in online programming competition, skills assessment and competitive software development, today announced the 61 International onsite semifinalists who have advanced to the Championship rounds of the 2005 TopCoder Open sponsored by Sun Microsystems. Joining title sponsor Sun Microsystems at the October 12th through 14th onsite finals at the Santa Clara Marriott in Santa Clara, CA, will be Premier sponsors Yahoo!, VeriSign and the National Security Agency. This annual TopCoder tournament is open to talented programmers and developers worldwide and will award cash prizes totaling $150,000. Admission is open to the public both days. The 61 TopCoder onsite finalists represent 19 countries including China, Poland, the Russian Federation, South Africa, Japan, Australia and Argentina as well as the US. The six member TopCoder Open review board includes judges from Asia, Europe and South America. This year marks the first time any competitors have qualified in two competitions. Kyle Littlefield of the United States and Nikolay Archak of the Russian Federation have both successfully earned places in both the Algorithm and Component Design contests.
