Soft Frame Works has released the Java Print Dialog Framework version 1.3.0. This release enhances the Swing Component printing capability. The JPDF allows Java software developers to add a comprehensive printing capability to existing Java applications. This includes sophisticated Page Setup, Print Preview, and Print dialogs, and the ability to preview and print Java Swing GUI components.
The JPDF is:
- Designed to be integrated into Java Swing client applications.
- Designed to minimize the coding effort required to develop a sophisticated printing capability. - Highly extensible to meet application-specific printing requirements.
- Not a report generator/designer.
Core capabilities include:
- A Preview Dialog which allows the end-user to preview the material to be printed.
- Printing of Swing components: JTable, JTree, JTextPane, JTextArea, JEditorPane, and JPanel.
- Custom Print Attributes which allow developers to specify the contents of page headers/footers, page framing, alignment/positioning/scaling, and many other options specific to the type of material being printed.
- A wide variety of Page Setup, Preview, and Print dialogs which can be plugged into developers’ applications with very little coding.
- A Print Job management facility which executes Print Jobs in the background. The end-user can be informed of the Job's progress and completion.
- All displayed labels and messages come from text property files -- allowing for easy language localization. Units of measure can be expressed as Inches or Millimeters.
