In the last quarter of 2010 I was writing that it was my prediction that 2011 would be the year of the Enterprise Developer going Mobile. Check it out here.

Also in 2010, I stated that I had seen massive interest in Enterprise Mobility, to the extent that I was saying that Enterprise Mobility had arrived and was being adopted warmly by corporate IT. Check it out here

Today a Sybase Survey by Kelton Research highlighted that this year (2011)...

• 90% of IT Managers surveyed are planning to implement new mobile applications and nearly one in two believe that successfully managing Mobile Applications will top their priority list.
• 21% are looking to introduce 20+ Mobile Applications into their organizations

For me, the interesting fact is the second one that I have quoted above. If this survey was completed on 2009, looking forward into 2010, I believe this figure of multiple applications would have been extremely lower.... maybe only 5%.

So in 2010 corporate IT has embraced Mobility and is now ready to use Mobility to create & expand advantages over their customers and streamline processes, increasing staff & customer satisfaction.

I'm sitting here with a smug (being proved right) expression on my face ;-)

One thing for sure, is that these Mobile Developments in 2011 will have to target multiple devices, as mobility hardware moves forward. So these forward thinking companies will need to embrace the Mobile Enterprise Application Platform, Check out Sybase SUP here
