On 8 September 2011, Meteorite Consulting are hosting the inaugural UK Open Source BI User Group Event. The UK OSBI User Group aims to provide information to help organisations select and implement innovative commercial and open source business intelligence, data warehousing and data integration solutions.
These solutions allow organisations to analyse the vast quantities of data they capture every day and turn it into usable information to inform decision making, improve performance and gain competitive advantage.
The event is free to attend and is being held in London from 6pm on Thursday 8 September. It will provide an opportunity to see the latest offerings from emerging technologies that provide a cost effective and technically innovative alternative to the traditional BI, DW and ETL vendors.
The theme of our first event is "BI Servers" and there will be presentations from a number of leading vendors including Jaspersoft, Yellowfin and SpagoBI.

About Jaspersoft
Jaspersoft provides one of the most flexible, cost-effective and widely deployed business intelligence suites in the world, enabling better decision-making through highly interactive web-based reports, dashboards and analysis. Leveraging a commercial open source business model, Jaspersoft provides end-to-end BI capabilities at a fraction of the cost of most other vendors. The BI suite includes pixel-perfect enterprise reporting, ad hoc query, dashboards, OLAP and in-memory analysis, and data integration.
Jaspersoft's open source business intelligence software has nearly 14 million product downloads worldwide, more than 175,000 production deployments and 14,000 commercial customers in 100 countries. Its BI suite is advanced regularly by a development community of more than 225,000 registered members. www.jaspersoft.com
About Yellowfin
At Yellowfin we are passionate about making Business Intelligence easy. In fact Yellowfin was founded to tackle the problems its founders had experienced with more traditional players in this market. What we saw was a significant market gap: the tools were highly complex, expensive and designed for technical resources - not business people - regardless of the marketing hype! Why only roll out BI tools to a chosen few, if all business people need access to their data.
The majority of feedback we receive is on the usability of our interface. Our design philosophy is to design and build highly intuitive software. This philosophy has driven us to develop products that are easy to install and even easier to use. Customers are able to use our Yellowfin within days and weeks rather than traditional software installations which can take months or years. www.yellowfinbi.com
About SpagoBI
SpagoBI is the only 100% open source business intelligence suite, supporting the agile development of Business Intelligence applications, guaranteeing quick development, flexibility and continuous improvement.
SpagoBI is a complete, robust, secure, scalable, industry-grade open source suite, supporting a wide range of analytical areas in the Business Intelligence domain, including 21 analysis and representation models, some of which are totally unique in the Information Intelligence domain.
The new 3.x version of the suite offers a new module fully dedicated to the metadata management, allowing users to define different information models within their own data domain and to develop new analytical documents through the complete data sources abstraction. Furthermore, it also includes a new ad-hoc reporting engine for the guided creation of customized reports and the realization of advanced cockpits, even on mobile devices, such as iPad, Android tablets as well as iPhone, Blackberry and Android smartphones. The 3.x release includes an enhanced engine supporting the location intelligence and strengthens the real-time data analysis, based on systems and events interacting with OLTP (On-line Transaction Processing) applications.
SpagoBI is developed by Engineering Group, an IT global player, Italy's largest operator in the IT services market. www.spagoworld.org
