Javaground Creates Tool To Port J2ME Game Applications For BREW

Tools Based On The Philosophy Of "Develop Once, Port Many Times"

Javaground, tool provider for the Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) mobile game industry, today introduced a tool that allows game developers to port their applications from the J2ME environment to QUALCOMM's BREW solution. It is one of the first commercially available tools of its kind and renders cross-platform porting quick and efficient.

"We founded Javaground on the concept of enabling developers to quickly create and port high-quality games for the J2ME platform," said Alexandre Kral, chief executive officer of Javaground. "Now, our team has mastered the technology to allow the mobile game industry to streamline the development of video games for other types of mobile platforms. In essence, programmers can develop their games in Java and port it to the BREW solution."

Javaground broke industry standards in 2003 when it introduced a tool to allow programmers to create a complete set of ports for a J2ME game in a few weeks. Leveraging this innovation, Javaground's new porting tool bridges the gap between mobile phone application development for Java and BREW devices.

"Javaground has created a development solution for programmers who are committed to Java and want to leverage the lower-cost and increased time-to-market capabilities of the BREW solution," said Mike Yuen, senior director of the Gaming Group, QUALCOMM Internet Services. "It is exciting to see the industry progress and mature in this way. The BREW solution supports a wide variety of programming languages and technologies, and we believe all data is good data as we work to drive the overall market for advanced services forward."

The BREW solution drives the discovery and delivery of data services. BREW subscribers benefit from several offerings, which include: uiOne for rich, integrated and dynamic user experiences with fast access to high revenue services on wireless devices; deliveryOne for differentiated and tightly integrated, operator-managed support and delivery of advanced wireless data content and services; and marketOne for a quick-to-market, hosted, scalable content delivery service that includes media titles, flexible management and monetization, content provider settlement and business intelligence services. QUALCOMM offers this comprehensive set of BREW offerings to meet the needs of companies delivering mobile products and services around the world.
