K Alliance Receives Coveted WBENC Certification of National Women's Business Enterprise

K Alliance recently reapplied for, and was granted, certification as a Women's Business Enterprise; this nationally recognized certification is valid through October 2013

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- K Alliance, the developer of online training videos, recently reapplied for certification as a Women's Business Enterprise (WBE). After undergoing a thorough review, the company was awarded the National Women's Business Enterprise Certification. The certification is valid through October 8, 2013. According to K Alliance president, Mimi Kwan, "Since originally being granted WBE status last year, we've been exposed to numerous opportunities and resources. When I learned that it was time to start the recertification process, I immediately filled out the application and submitted it."

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council's website explains that certification offers numerous benefits to women-owned businesses. Some of the benefits include: mentoring and professional development, access to procurement and supplier diversity executives, promotional and networking opportunities, recognition, community support, and advocacy. The non-profit council dates back to 1997 when it was founded. Since then, WBENC has grown into the nation's largest independent Women's Business Enterprise certifier.

WBENC.org lists the council's core values as certification, opportunities, and resources. Many government agencies and thousands of major corporations recognize and accept the WBENC certification.

The certification process is rigorous, requiring submission of an application, extensive company documentation, and a review process overseen by a committee. In order to pass the committee's review, the business must clearly demonstrate 51 percent (or higher) ownership, control, and operation by a woman or women.

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council issues its yearly America's Top Corporations for Women's Business Enterprises awards to recognize companies that support women-owned businesses. Past recipients include Ford Motor Company, AT&T, Exxon Mobile Company, and Marriott International, Inc.

Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by ...
