VANCOUVER, BC -- (Marketwire) -- 11/01/12 -- ActiveState®, whose software enables developers and enterprises to innovate from code to cloud, today announced an enterprise customer relationship with Indianapolis-based ExactTarget, a global interactive marketing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider. In addition, today marks the release of Stackato® 2.4, the next evolution in enterprise private Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) technology.
"ExactTarget's 'Orange Culture' embodies its commitment to innovation," said ActiveState CEO Bart Copeland. "In the same way ExactTarget is revolutionizing digital marketing, ActiveState is transforming the cloud with Stackato, the enterprise private PaaS."
Stackato is the industry-standard enterprise private PaaS, and it enables developers to code in the language that's right for them, provides best-in-class management tools for IT leads, and delivers compelling workflow productivity gains for CIOs. ExactTarget -- recently recognized by Software Magazine as one of the fastest growing software companies in the world -- has deployed Stackato for its production cloud applications.
"ExactTarget engineers must have the freedom to innovate," said Ian Murdock, vice president, platform at ExactTarget. "Stackato makes it easier and faster for our teams to develop and deploy cloud apps, letting them focus on their own imagination rather than configuration or administration."
"The agile enterprise needs a path to the cloud, and Stackato gets it there quickly, securely, and efficiently," continued Copeland, who notes that ActiveState has signed several other enterprise Stackato customers in the past quarter. "We're seeing traction for Stackato in many different industries, including high tech, aerospace, media and entertainment, telecommunications, and financial services."
ActiveState -- recently named one of SD Times' "2013 Companies to Watch" -- continues to advance PaaS technology: Today's announcement coincides with the release of Stackato 2.4, the latest update to the industry-leading enterprise private PaaS solution. Version 2.4 highlights include:
- "Skinnable" UI
OEM partners -- particularly cloud hosting providers -- can now implement Stackato with a customized look and feel. For instance, the Stackato 2.4 Management Console can be "themed" with OEM partner logo, colors, and branding. - Improved logging
Logs can be aggregated from multiple nodes to a central location, and then forwarded to third-party logging solutions like Loggly, Papertrail, or Splunk. - Easier, more powerful user administration
Administrators can now import or export users and groups via the command-line or console interfaces. - SPDY in the Stackato WebSocket library
The 2.4 release further extends Stackato's WebSocket capabilities: Stackato's second-generation Node.js-based router now includes support for Google's SPDY protocol.
Stackato 2.4 is available in Enterprise and Micro Cloud editions. The Micro Cloud edition is free, and can be deployed to a production server (with a 4GB memory limit). Stackato is also available on Amazon EC2 and most other cloud service providers. Learn more at http://www.activestate.com/stackato.
