SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AppDynamics, Inc., the next-generation application performance management company that simplifies the management of complex web applications, announced today that Joe Sexton, a veteran of McAfee and Mercury Interactive, has joined the company as President of Worldwide Field Operations. Responsible for the company's entire line of go-to-market functions— Sales, Marketing, Business Development, and Customer Success—Joe will put his sights on scaling the company's revenue and sales infrastructure to support the company's aggressive growth targets in 2013 and beyond.
Prior to joining AppDynamics, Joe was the Executive Vice President of Global Sales at McAfee, Inc., where he was responsible for $2.5 billion in annual sales and managed an organization of 2,000 people. Under his leadership McAfee doubled its sales, resulting in a $7.7 billion acquisition by Intel last year. Before joining McAfee, Joe served as Senior Vice President of the Americas at Mercury Interactive, where he helped triple sales to $1 billion by establishing Mercury's leadership in the Enterprise market. While there, Hewlett Packard acquired Mercury Interactive for $4.5 billion in 2006. Joe has also held executive sales positions at EMC, Integrated Concepts, and CA Technologies.
"AppDynamics is a dream company. It has an enormous market being served by laggard vendors and obsolete technology, it has a visionary executive team, and it has a disruptive go-to-market model powered by a freemium strategy and easy-to-use products that enable 15 minutes to value," said Joe Sexton. "It has focused on quality, innovation, and world-class customer service. With all those pieces in place, I am confident that AppDynamics is poised to continue its explosive growth and become the next great software company. I look forward to working with Jyoti and the team to help scale the organization and ensure AppDynamics' continued dominance as the standard bearer in enterprise application performance management."
"Joe is one of the best software sales leaders in the entire country, and I am thrilled to welcome him to the AppDynamics leadership team," said Jyoti Bansal, Founder and CEO of AppDynamics. "His extraordinary track record in sales management and scaling go-to-market teams will have a tremendous impact on the next chapter of the AppDynamics growth story."
AppDynamics stands at the forefront of a generational change in how web applications are managed: modern applications are no longer monolithic in nature but are highly distributed and dynamic, fueled by architectural trends like Cloud, SOA, Big Data and Agile Development. As a result, traditional application performance management solutions have become outdated. AppDynamics is leading the charge in next-generation management technology to address this generational shift in web architectures. In addition, AppDynamics has combined its unique technology platform with a disruptive, low-touch sales model that is influenced by consumer software trends such as free downloads, no risk "try-before-you-buy" software trials, and zero consulting services. AppDynamics is currently one of the fastest growing enterprise software startups, growing at 300% CAGR over the last few years. AppDynamics has attracted over 100,000 users of AppDynamics Lite, a free Java/.NET performance monitoring download that helps IT Operations troubleshoot application performance problems.
