INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- (Marketwire) -- 12/04/12 -- In February 2012, the Indianapolis Marriott East completed a renovation that transformed the hotel in its entirety, from its Indianapolis meeting space to its guestrooms and suites. With the $30-million renovation, this is now one of the most sophisticated places to stay near downtown.
Literally topping off the renovation is a glass roof with 66 skylights, created to reflect the state's patchwork landscape and the vibrant, urban setting of this hotel near downtown Indianapolis. The roof also inspired part of the hotel's three-meal dining concept, which includes the gorgeous and aptly named Skylight Bistro & Wine Bar, Freedom Hall and two private dining rooms.
Dining is part of the new great-room experience, where you'll find flexible spaces to work, eat and relax, either alone, with work colleagues or alongside family and friends. Within the great room you'll find a beautiful wine wall displaying various local Indiana wines, and surrounding the main entry is a wall of another kind. A living wall, the largest of its kind in central Indiana at 140 sq. ft., is filled with nearly 300 live tropical plants. It serves not only as a beautiful piece of decor but a natural indoor air filter, too. Outside, the living room concept continues with fire pits surrounded by comfortable seating.
Each of the Indianapolis hotel rooms and suites was also renovated, offering updated technology including a 37-inch flat-screen TV and high-capacity, high-speed Internet access.
The Indianapolis Marriott East also added 23,000 sq. ft. of event space to its Indianapolis wedding venues. The hotel now offers 75,000 sq. ft. of pillar-free meeting and event space, all on one floor and spread across five venues, the most of any hotel in the state. Its Green Meetings initiatives and complimentary parking make this a top choice for weddings, meetings, corporate functions and personal celebrations.
The results of the renovation were so impressive that Indianapolis Marriott East received the "Renovation Excellence Award" at the Marriott International National Association Conference.
