PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MetricStream, the market leader in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) and Quality Management solutions has announced its new Big Data analytics capability which will provide greater visibility and transparency into an organization's overall risk profile. Recognizing that risk is a big data problem, the MetricStream Big Data analytics functionality will enable customers to better manage the increasing volume, velocity, and variety of data, thereby helping them overcome their risk management and regulatory compliance challenges.
Threat and vulnerability data from numerous security solutions, social and digital media content violating corporate policies and regulations, supply chain incidents spreading virally on the web that damage reputation, and transaction trends indicating a financial fraud or illegal activity can be more easily identified and managed as a result of big data analytics. Through collecting and analyzing large and disparate data points, trends begin to emerge, thereby enabling reactive discovery of incidents and proactive identification of emerging issues.
The Big Data analytics capabilities of MetricStream GRC Platform will simplify big data management and allow organizations to derive risk and compliance related insights in ways that were not previously possible. Customers can now tackle massive volumes of structured and unstructured data including transactions, trades, social media and multimedia content, weblogs, security logs, geo-location data, click streams and email text – and can seamlessly incorporate all of this data into their risk assessment, analysis, mitigation, and reporting processes.
"MetricStream is committed to helping solve the big data problem through our robust GRC platform which provides organizations with the risk intelligence needed to drive decision making and business performance. We are excited to offer our customers advanced Big Data analytics capabilities through our industry-leading MetricStream GRC Platform, and will continue to develop solutions and functionality designed to meet and exceed customer needs and expectations," said Vidya Phalke, CTO at MetricStream.
To deliver Big Data analytics capabilities, MetricStream has enhanced its industry leading GRC platform to support the two most popular big data architecture frameworks in the industry; Hadoop, the open source Java-based framework for processing large data sets in a distributed computing environment, and MongoDB, the open source NoSQL database system.
To capture data from disparate sources, the MetricStream platform uses Infolet integration technology, a patent-pending and agent-based architecture for distributed data extraction, processing, and delivery. Infolet adaptors seamlessly integrate with big data sources to capture relevant information and include it within MetricStream GRC applications for processing, routing, and reporting. MetricStream's Hadoop integration includes the MapReduce framework for processing massive parallel computational datasets, resulting in shortened processing times.
