Avalon Consulting, LLC, a leading implementer of Big Data, Web Presence, Content Publishing, and Enterprise Search solutions, today announced record revenue in 2012, representing a 32% year-over-year growth, as it marks its 10 year anniversary in business. Company owners Tom Reidy and Casey Green highlight NoSQL and Big Data implementation capabilities as the key catalysts to Avalon’s increased revenue in 2012 and expect the firm to continue rapid growth in 2013. Avalon plans to hire additional senior-level employees with technology skills such as Java development, XML, Hadoop and NoSQL databases in 2013 to further support its growth.
“Our 10 year anniversary and the growth we’ve experienced in 2012 mark a very exciting time for Avalon,” said Tom Reidy, CEO, President and Founder of Avalon Consulting, LLC. “During the recession, when many technology companies were tightening their belts and scaling back, Avalon chose to make strategic business investments. We identified opportunities for growth in the market and made a commitment to further developing our team of architects who can deliver superior technology implementations. As we celebrate 10 years, I am proud of our team and the services we deliver our clients, and excited for the opportunities ahead of us.”
Founded in 2003, Avalon has continued to experience growth in its client base, office locations and revenue. Avalon attributed its success to four key pillars - developing a highly focused business model that is centered on ensuring client success; forming a limited number of highly strategic vendor partnerships; expanding an employee base with exceptional senior-level architects and its willingness to invest in training for highly skilled employees in emerging technologies. In addition to the record financial performance, in 2012, Avalon was recognized as MarkLogic Corporation’s “Innovator of the Year.“
“Avalon Consulting, LLC is a key integration partner for MarkLogic, and the organization’s focus on innovation is a valuable asset when identifying customers’ requirements and successfully implementing enterprise NoSQL solutions,” said David Ponzini, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development at MarkLogic.
Upon its founding, Avalon achieved immediate success through expert implementation of large-scale Enterprise Portals. The company subsequently expanded into deployment of large Web Content Management and Enterprise Search solutions servicing dozens of Fortune 500 clients while being named “Partner of the Year” by Vignette Corporation for three consecutive years. Avalon expanded the number of senior-level architects on staff through hiring of employees instead of using contractors and grew through word-of-mouth referrals and repeat business rather than a reliance on outbound sales. This model allowed Avalon to provide superior quality service at an exceptional value without hassles and pressures that often accompany the engagement of a consulting organization.
Headquartered in Plano, Texas, Avalon also has offices in Washington, D.C. and Austin, Texas and recently opened an office in Chicago. The company services clients across all of North America. In 2012, additional Avalon key accomplishments included:
- Established formal partnership with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (RHIT); Dr. Sriram Mohan, faculty member of advanced databases, will join the company on sabbatical for a one-year period from August 2013 through July 2014 before returning to RHIT.
- Surpassed five licenses for Avalon’s Unified Search Platform (USP), further validating our unique expertise in delivery of elegant Enterprise Search user interfaces. USP is now operating in production against instances of IDOL, Ultraseek, Solr, MarkLogic, and Google Search Appliance.
- Announced early introduction of the Unified Search and Analytics Platform (USAP) for advanced Big Data Analytics solutions that combine structured and unstructured data in one business intelligence solution; filed for provisional patents to protect key innovations within USAP.
- Launched ADEPTCentral as a standalone Learning and Performance Management consulting company that provides expertise to academic, corporate and movement entities.
