Appcara, an innovative cloud application platform vendor, announced that it has appointed Paul Speciale as its chief marketing officer. A veteran technology marketing and product leader at both high-profile cloud startups and Fortune 500 technology leaders, Speciale brings bench depth in the rapidly expanding Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Big Data sectors, where Appcara’s unique model-based architecture has made it a company to watch by leading analysts.
Paul Speciale joins Appcara bringing over 20 years of end to end product, marketing and go to market strategy development experience that has taken previously unknown companies from product conception to commercial delivery and revenue, and has been a part of several leading cloud-related technology startups. Most recently he was vice president of products at Amplidata, a leader in Big Data and cloud storage, where as vice president of products, he helped to launch the company’s award winning AmpliStor object storage system into the market and to secure key OEM relationships. Prior to Amplidata, Speciale was part of the Savvis Cloud Solutions team, launching the Gartner Magic Quadrant-leading Symphony VPDC cloud service to market. Speciale also helped guide marketing and product management at Qlayer, one of the first cloud orchestration product vendors which was later acquired by Sun Microsystems. Earlier in his career he worked in technical architecture and product roles at Oracle, IBM and others. He holds BS and MA degrees in applied mathematics from UCLA.
“As Big Data deployments and enterprise applications move into cloud-based deployments, the demand for faster, easier application deployment and management solutions is reaching a crescendo,” said John Yung, CEO of Appcara. “Paul is the perfect marketing leader to help Appcara accelerate our momentum, communicate the advantages of our solutions, and to build relationships in key accounts and partnerships. We’re delighted to have someone of his caliber on our team.”
