Telerik, an end-to-end provider of software development, lifecycle and content management tools and solutions, today announced that it has acquired EQATEC, creators of the cross-platform application analytics solution, EQATEC Analytics. Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, EQATEC enables software development teams to improve decision-making based on real-time usage and application health data.
Application analytics delivers to developers the kinds of insights that solutions like Google Analytics have offered to web developers for years. From basic information, like number of users, user location, frequency of app usage, and duration of usage sessions, to fine-grained insights into use of specific features, EQATEC Analytics offers a complete picture of app usage across desktop and mobile platforms. In addition, application health is monitored by capturing crash reports and exceptions, enabling developers to quickly identify and fix problems. EQATEC Analytics eliminates the guesswork and empowers data-driven development decisions.
The acquisition of EQATEC complements Telerik’s portfolio by tapping into important technology trends and reinforcing Telerik’s leadership as an end-to-end provider of application development solutions. According to Forrester Research, “You cannot pursue the cool new movements such as cloud, big data, and development + operations (DevOps) if your basic monitoring is in shambles…Leaders understand that they need to get the basics right before moving in more ambitious directions.”1
“EQATEC Analytics adds an important piece to our ALM stack. Dev teams can now know for sure how their software is used and improve it accordingly,” said Svetozar Georgiev, Co-founder and CEO, Telerik. “The integration of our two companies aligns perfectly with our vision of the future and long-term strategy for success. EQATEC is synergetic with Telerik, from both a product and a cultural standpoint – it’s a good fit that will benefit our customers across the board.”
EQATEC's application analytics supports all popular application platforms across desktop, web, and mobile, including: .NET, .NET CE, Java, COM, Silverlight, Win32/C++, iOS, Android, Windows Phone 7, and JavaScript (coming soon). The solution is available both as a cloud-based SaaS offering, and as on-premise implementation for large enterprise customers with strict data usage requirements.
“We are proud that we have built a solid and highly scalable solution, used by customers like the Danish Post, APC by Schneider Electric, Widex, PhaseOne and GN,” said Eigil Rosager Poulsen, Co-founder and CEO, EQATEC. “By joining forces with Telerik we will take the product to new heights and turn it into a market leading cross-platform application analytics solution.”
“With a focus on quality, service, and expertise, Telerik is the best home for us, as we bring EQATEC to the next level,” said Morten Damsgaard, Co-founder and CTO, EQATEC. “Being part of a highly-successful, worldwide organization will ensure that our solutions continue to evolve as the industry shifts, providing the highest quality, fully-rounded solutions available.”
As part of the acquisition, Telerik will retain all EQATEC employees as well as the Copenhagen office, with plans for expansion in that region. The company will continue offering the products as SaaS as well as on-premise deployments for enterprise customers.
