AJAXWorld will feature a faculty of more than 100 distinguished speakers,
presenting more than 96 sessions, keynotes, and power panel discussions, in
six simultaneous tracks for three days, including AHAX Bootcamp, which will take place on Monday, October 2, 2006.
The program will also cover in detail the other IDEs available for AJAX that are not yet mainstream, like JavaScript Synthesis Technology (JST), IntelliJ IDEA 5.0, Visual GUI Builder, Backbase, and the open source Ruby on Rails framework.
“Over the two information-packed days, delegates will receive four days’
worth of education, as speaker after speaker explores AJAX and RIAs in the
greater context of the overall Web 2.0 spectrum,” said Jeremy Geelan, conference
chair and group publisher of SYS-CON Media. “Delegates will also receive all
conference sessions in SYS-CON.TV’s now ‘most popular’ Webcast DVDs, thus, not
missing a single session of this ground-breaking event of the year.”

"Web-Oriented Architecture: SOA + The Web + REST"
Moderator: Dion Hinchcliffe
Building modern SOAs and Web 2.0 sites requires a design style that goes with the "grain" of the Web. REST, a natural extension of HTTP created by the co-inventor of HTTP, is getting a lot of attention these days because it's easy to work with, aligns well with the Web, and is very high performance. Used architecturally, REST is called "Web-Oriented Architecture" or WOA. But whither SOAP, the canonical Web services protocol up to now?
This panel will discuss that and more, including:
- REST has been with us for a while, why is it taking off now?
- What's going to happen to SOAP-based SOAs?
- What are IBM, Microsoft, and BEA doing about REST support in their products?

AJAXWorld 2006 CEO Power Panel
Moderator: Dion Hinchcliffe
More and more companies are using so-called "Web 2.0" tools to build their own mashups. They are increasingly looking at other ways to change how they communicate with customers. This special AJAXWorld 2006 CEO Power Panel will discuss the business impact of the new breed of applications that integrate content from many sources in the enterprise and Web community in as little as five minutes. Contributory factors considered will be:
open APIs - such those now available from eBay, Google, Amazon and Yahoo!

"The FrameworkWars: Lightweight vs Heavyweight"
Moderator: Jeremy Geelan
There are a number of different frameworks that will do much of the heavy lifting for AJAX developers, from the well-known such as Dojo and ThinWire to the perhaps less well-known Taconite framework.
- Which is best suited to doing what job - and why?
This fundamental question will be the central concern of this "Power Panel."
