Coraid Now Offers Support for SanDisk SSDs

The Coraid EtherDrive SRX6000 series storage appliances offers a scalable network storage solution

Ethernet storage solutions company, Coraid, recently announced they will offer support for SanDisk Optimus 1.6TB Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) solid state drives (SSDs) on the EtherDrive scale-out storage platform.

The Coraid EtherDrive SRX6000 series storage appliances, loaded with Optimus 1.6TB SAS SSDs, offers a scalable network storage solution with the functionality of more than double the throughput. It also offers up to five times input/output operations per Second (IOPS) compared to previous EtherDrive SRX models. The primary audience for the EtherDrive SRX6000 includes cloud and enterprise data centers and is optimized for I/O-intensive applications, such as server virtualization and web applications, and cloud environments.

The SRX6000 has a new bus architecture and CorOS7.0 software, allowing it to deliver more than 700,000 IOPS and sustained transfer rates over 4,800 MB/s. It also has a flash capacity of 38.4 TB in a 2U form factor. This combined technology provides both a high level of performance and a high storage density on a scalable storage platform.

The Optimus 1.6TB SAS SSDs utilizes the SanDisk Guardian Technology platform, a proprietary suite of enterprise features and endurance enhancement technologies. This platform allows for 10 full random drive writes per day and offers a five-year warranty. This is the most recent in a series of SanDisk drives that Coraid is qualified for the EtherDrive platform.

The Optimus 1.6TB SAS SSD utilizes the flash density of the EtherDrive SRX series without requiring the use of higher-cost components and hardware. The EtherDrive storage arrays from Coraid offers scale-out capabilities, allowing customers to adjust their storage infrastructure to multiple petabytes (one petabyte is 1,000 terabytes) without the need for forklift upgrades. IT staff can “mix and match” SATA and SAS SSDs in each storage array in order to provide a single storage tier that can handle a variety of different enterprise needs, including server virtualization, VDI, tier one databases, archive, and video.

Coraid utilizes industry-standard, off-the-shelf hardware, which can avoid additional complexities that can occur when having to integrate new hardware with existing server architecture.
