Zettaset and Simba Streamline Big Data Connectivity to Analytics Applications

Partnership Addresses Compatibility and Security Issues for Enterprises Linking Analytics and BI Applications to Hadoop Distributions and Databases

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/09/14 -- Zettaset, the leader in secure Big Data management, today announced a strategic technology partnership with Simba Technologies, the recognized leader in standards-based data access and analytics solutions for both relational and multi-dimensional data sources. The partnership will streamline interoperability between Hadoop and analytics applications, as well as provide enterprise-class security for organizations deploying a combined Hadoop + Analytics ecosystem.

Simba Technologies co-developed Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) with Microsoft in 1992, and was the first to deliver ODBC and Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) drivers for Hadoop/Hive Big Data sources. Zettaset Orchestrator is the industry's first fully-integrated, automated solution for Hadoop security and data management. The Simba drivers enable users of the Zettaset Orchestrator management platform to directly access and analyze Big Data sources in Hadoop, using the BI / Analytics application of their choice.

"Simba solutions provide 'The On Ramp to Big Data,'" stated Simba Technologies CEO Amyn Rajan. "We look forward to working with Zettaset to provide our joint Fortune 1000 enterprise customers with standardized, secure, and highly-available Hadoop connectivity solutions to market-leading analytics and business intelligence applications."

"Zettaset continues to lead the Big Data security initiative for organizations that are mining Hadoop for business intelligence with this inclusion of Simba's enterprise class ODBC and JDBC drivers in our Orchestrator management application," said Jim Vogt, CEO of Zettaset. "Now Cloudera and Hortonworks customers can use Orchestrator to automate connectivity and ensure compatibility between their Hadoop clusters and upstream analytics applications, as well as fortify security and automate routine management."

Zettaset Orchestrator's management console automates virtually all manual configuration processes within Hadoop, eliminating the need for professional services and reducing IT resource requirements in the enterprise.

Benefits of the Zettaset Orchestrator / Simba Technologies Partnership

  • Users of the Zettaset Orchestrator management application/add-on running on Cloudera or Hortonworks can directly access and analyze Big Data sources in Hadoop, using the BI / Analytics application of their choice
  • Simba ensures continued driver compatibility between Hadoop/Hive and the BI / Analytics application of choice
  • Orchestrator automatically installs Cloudera and Hortonworks distributions, along with the Orchestrator security and management application/add-on
  • Orchestrator automatically installs and configures enterprise-class security components into the Hadoop cluster, including data-in-motion encryption, data-at-rest encryption, fine-grained role-based access control, Active Directory/LDAP integration, activity monitoring for compliance, and multi-service high-availability with automated failover

Simba ODBC and JDBC drivers for Zettaset Orchestrator will be available May 2014.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...

If a machine can invent, does this mean the end of the patent system as we know it? The patent system, both in the US and Europe, allows companies to protect their inventions and helps foster innovation. However, Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be set to disrupt the patent system as we know it. This talk will examine how AI may change the patent landscape in the years to come. Furthermore, ways in which companies can best protect their AI related inventions will be examined from both a US and...
