ONYX HD3™ Delivers Biometric Touchless Fingerprint Security to Enterprise iOS and Android Applications

Diamond Fortress Technologies (DFT) today released ONYX HD3™, a touchless biometric fingerprint authentication software development kit (SDK) for enterprise mobile applications. Requiring no additional hardware, ONYX HD3 provides a greater level of biometric security than touch-based fingerprint scanners by using a mobile devices’ rear-facing camera to take a picture of a finger and proprietary algorithms to accurately identify and match the users’ unique fingerprint. ONYX HD3 is now available for a 60-day free trial at DiamondFortress.com.

To improve the user experience, ONYX HD3 also features Auto-capture, which automatically frames and takes a picture of your fingerprint to login, removing the need to tap the screen.

“ONYX not only outperforms touch-based sensor solutions, but does so at a fraction of the cost,” said DFT CEO Chace Hatcher. “We give businesses greater flexibility in safely delivering their data, products, and services, while providing their employees and customers with a game-changing combination of increased security and convenience.”

As a touchless solution, ONYX HD3 avoids many of the distorting variables present with hardware scanners, resulting in a more accurate copy of the actual fingerprint. This is essential for enterprises requiring an extra layer of security to prevent mobile data breaches and theft, identify theft, skimming, and fraud.

Because ONYX HD3 is entirely software-based, developers can integrate the SDK into a broad array of systems for use on any mobile device with a rear-facing camera. Integration of ONYX HD3 SDK can be completed in two weeks or less, allowing rapid implementation of 2-factor authentication for enterprise applications. ONYX HD3 is a software library written in C++, wrapped with Java for use on Android and Objective C for use on iOS.

Enterprises, developers or anyone interested in adding biometric security to their applications can sign up for a free 60-day trial of ONYX HD3 at DiamondFortress.com.

The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
