Fresche Legacy Unlocks Enterprise Capabilities Within X-Analysis

MONTREAL, CANADA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/06/14 -- Fresche Legacy, a leading provider of legacy management and modernization solutions for the IBM i platform, announced today that it is expanding the functionality of the entry level version of its industry-leading application documentation and analysis tool, X-Analysis. Automated Data Model extraction from RPG and COBOL - a key feature set previously available only in the product's Enterprise Edition - is now available in the X-Analysis Professional Edition. This exciting new release is now available to existing customers and to Hawkeye users as a free upgrade.

"After surveying the IBM i market and our customers, it is clear that to really take advantage of IBM i's newest database and SQL features, documenting the relational data model is a critical requirement. IBM i developers find that the manual work effort required to achieve this has proven overwhelming. As a demonstration of Fresche's commitment to the sustainability of IBM i and commitment to improving productivity for developers, we made the strategic decision to include the automated data model extraction functionality in the X-Analysis entry level version. This puts a key modernization feature in the hands of the people that need it at a price they can afford," says Chris Koppe, VP of Corporate Strategy at Fresche Legacy.

A fairly consistent trend also showed that companies using the Hawkeye product had an urgent need for a modern graphical interface for application analysis and cross-referencing capabilities. As such, Fresche is making X-Analysis available to Hawkeye users through a free upgrade. Beyond this, X-Analysis has a breadth and depth of functionality far exceeding Hawkeye that significantly improves maintenance and support of RPG, COBOL and CA 2E (Synon) applications. It also better positions companies to modernize their applications to take advantage of all features and capabilities of the platform.

About X-Analysis Suite

For more than 25 years, thousands of IBM i developers have turned to Fresche Legacy's X-Analysis suite of tools to better understand, maintain, enhance and evolve billions of lines of IBM i code. XAnalysis provides detailed application documentation including interactive diagrams that enable understanding of any IBM i application. X-Analysis extracts the details of the existing models from RPG, COBOL and CA 2E (Synon) code, providing an excellent base for efficient design recovery, system documentation and analysis, including migration to RPG/Free or Java.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
