SolidFire Hires James Whitemore as First Chief Marketing Officer

Cloud and IaaS Industry Veteran Brings More Than 25 Years Global Sales and Marketing Experience to SolidFire's Executive Team

BOULDER, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/03/14 -- SolidFire, the leader in all-flash storage systems built for the Next Generation Data Center, today announced that James Whitemore will serve as the company's first chief marketing officer (CMO). In this role, James will lead SolidFire's worldwide marketing efforts, including corporate, product and field marketing as the company continues its aggressive growth trajectory.

James will work collaboratively with SolidFire's executive leadership, engineering, and sales teams to develop and implement customer acquisition, expansion and retention strategies to drive sustained awareness of SolidFire's brand and revenue growth across its sales channels and markets worldwide.

A veteran of the cloud computing and storage industry, James has more than 25 years experience leading, developing and executing successful global sales, product management and marketing strategies. He most recently served as SVP of Sales and Marketing at West IP Communications, a leading provider of technology-driven communications services, where he led the company's Unified Communications-as-a-Services (UCaSS) business. Prior to his tenure at West IP Communications, James was EVP of Sales and Marketing at Smoothstone IP Communications.

Prior to Smoothstone, James was the Chief Marketing Officer at Savvis and he has held a variety of sales and marketing positions in Europe, Asia and the U.S. with Sun Microsystems, IBM, StorageTek and Standard Telephones and Cables (STC). James holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and management from Northumbria University.
