Gupta Technologies' TD Mobile Enables Advance Turning and Manufacturing to Transform Inventory Process

Gupta Technologies, a global provider of application development, database and migration software, today announced the successful deployment of a cycle count application using TD Mobile. The new application enables Advance Turning & Manufacturing (ATM) to cycle through smaller groups of inventory on a daily basis to provide real-time information and improve efficiency, compared to the annual inventory process previously used.

Advance Turning & Manufacturing (ATM) provides precision machining to the aerospace and medical markets primarily out of their two facilities in Michigan. In order to deliver more accuracy in managing inventory and reduce the disruptions that occur with an annual process, ATM built a cycle count application to enable daily inventory counts. Employees access this application on their mobile device through an app built using TD Mobile.

Now, employees can pull up the daily cycle count on their mobile device to update current on-hand quantities, which are updated real-time in the back-end database that ties to the Visual ERP system. With this data, management has an immediate view of current inventory quantities and dollar values.

“With TD Mobile connecting to the database is defined visually in a few steps instead of having to write a bunch of SQL code, which saved me a ton of time. I was able to build, test and deploy the TD Mobile cycle count application in less than a week,” said Gary Greenwood, Application Developer, Advance Turning & Manufacturing. “TD Mobile is a great development tool that gives developers like me the ability to quickly build mobile apps that get real-time information into the hands of the people that matter most.”

TD Mobile is a single, complete development solution for building HTML5 web applications for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac from one source code. Developers around the world use TD Mobile because it unifies the technologies required—HTML/CSS/JavaScript Java/.NET, web services, JSON, JQuery and more—in one system for building and deploying mobile apps. By simplifying development, the time and cost for delivering mobile solutions is significantly reduced.

“TD Mobile is about simplifying the steps and time it usually takes to develop a mobile enterprise app,” said Frank Verardi, Vice President and General Manager, Gupta Technologies. “Companies like Advance Turning & Manufacturing can be productive quickly and build and deploy an app that connects to multiple enterprise data sources without the time consuming programming that’s required in other tools. TD Mobile makes accessing enterprise data easy so businesses can use mobile apps to improve the productivity of employees, increase customer satisfaction or grow competitive advantage.”

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...

If a machine can invent, does this mean the end of the patent system as we know it? The patent system, both in the US and Europe, allows companies to protect their inventions and helps foster innovation. However, Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be set to disrupt the patent system as we know it. This talk will examine how AI may change the patent landscape in the years to come. Furthermore, ways in which companies can best protect their AI related inventions will be examined from both a US and...
Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.
