(June 3, 2003) - Java developers targeting a broad market of global handset manufacturers can soon take advantage of the enriched capabilities of Motorola's i.JV30, the latest embedded Java virtual machine from Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector. The i.JV30, integrated with its Innovative Convergence platforms for 2.5G devices, will be demonstrated during the JavaOne Conference in San Francisco.

i.JV30 is Motorola's next-generation implementation of J2ME and features the latest Java APIs, including the MIDP 2.0, Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) 1.0, Wireless Messaging APIs (JSR-120) and the Mobile Media APIs (JSR-135). With i.JV30, application developers can use development tools such as Metrowerks' CodeWarrior Wireless Studio version 7, as well as Sun's J2ME Wireless Toolkit.

By providing a comprehensive, highly-integrated J2ME software and hardware solution, the Innovative Convergence platform will greatly accelerate adoption of the Java MIDP 2.0 global standard. The MIDP 2.0 standard enables developers to take advantage of advances in application development for graphics, new and enhanced gaming, audio, end-to-end security, and other features.
