UCCnet is a neutral, tax-exempt organization that provides item registry and data synchronization for electronic commerce based on industry developed standards.

IBM's Item Synchronization solution provides affordable, extensible, scalable, and secure access to UCCnet. It enables suppliers to send retailers new product information automatically using UCCnet while simultaneously synchronizing the data within the supplier's and retailer's back end enterprise systems. IBM WebSphere Business Integration for Retail Distribution provides customers with the sophisticated business process integration software to achieve a single view of their business, customers, and channels.

UCCnet Foundation Services 2.1 is the current version of the organization's item registry and data synchronization services. It enables trading partners to significantly improve accuracy, efficiency, and profit throughout their supply chain. UCCnet services provide an open repository for item, location, and trading partner capabilities and enable suppliers to communicate new or changed product data -- ensuring that all trading partners are using accurate standardized item information. UCCnet subscribers are able to considerably reduce errant purchase orders, returned shipments, reductions, systems errors, and costs throughout the supply chain.
