Karl Aigner, a project manager for SUSE at the time - nearly a year ago - when the city of Munich, Germany's third largest city, decided to equip all of the 14,000 computers in its public administration
with Linux instead of Windows
NT 4.0 and Office, left SUSE in January...and has since turned up at Microsoft.
It was SUSE and IBM together who worked closely with city government officials to help them make a "strategic decision" in favor of Linux and hoped to supply and maintain the open source software, and possibly hardware, when the migration program began in February. The Munich migration process hasn't been a cakewalk though, according to early reports - especially on the desktop side.
Ballmer & co. doubtless want Aigner's project management expertise to help them resist SUSE's attempt to woo any other German cities away from Windows.
