JXTA 2.3 - "Jambalaya" - Released

JXTA 2.3 - "Jambalaya" - Released

Developers and deployers of JXTA - the set of open protocols that allow any connected device on the network ranging from cell phones and wireless PDAs to PCs and servers to communicate and collaborate in a P2P manner - will be pleased to know that the "Jambalaya" release of JXTA has just arrived.

In an announcement to the JXTA community, the JXTA J2SE Release Team said that "A lot of progress has been made in this release and there is a lot to be excited about."

JXTA J2SE 2.3 "Jambalaya" provides significant functional enhancements of the JXTA J2SE platform, some important performance and scalability improvements, along with a number of important bug fixes.

Main new features:

  • a refactored endpoint service for performance/scalability
  • enhanced PSE (Personal Security Enviroment) membership service
  • enhanced configuration -- NAT detection
  • a refactored Rendezvous service.

This release is designed to be API and protocol backwards compatible with other JXTA J2SE 2.x releases, according to the release team.
