Corporate services provider Storeroom Solutions has detailed in a recent magazine article how JReport, from Jinfonet Software, enabled the company to achieve very high levels of customer service.
Previous attempts Storeroom Solutions made to efficiently monitor productivity and supply chains were disappointing, the article states. The main problem was apparently the incompatibility of systems between client sites; which made the access and sharing of data impossible.
The company turned towards Java and the Web as a means to centralize business data. This led to the development of what the company called its Storeroom On Site (SOS) management system, which would need a strong reporting tool to use business intelligence effectively.
Only Jinfonet Software's JReport could provide an answer to Storeroom Solutions reporting needs, the company says. What sold Storeroom Solutions on JReport was its 100% J2EE-based platform that would integrate perfectly with its SOS system. Storeroom Solutions provides all maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) supplies straight to clients' maintenance personnel. Each client is different with widely varying supply needs.
With JReport, over 150 templates were quickly created, and in each report numerous fields could be included. Some reports, the company said, have over 20,000 lines of data; and there may be up to 400 reports run in the time span of two hours.
Managers could easily access this data and view it in a variety of report outputs, including Excel, HTML, PDF, and RTF. With these reports, managers were able to track and refine critical operations data, such as clients' inventory. Storeroom Solution's managers operated under the mantra, "if you can't measure it, you can't manage it."
With these tools at hand, Storeroom Solutions was able to exceed its customer service level. Measured in terms of the timeliness of parts deliverability, the company says it scored a 98% or higher mark in service level provided to their customers.
