The Dot Net Factory Introduces EmpowerID Role Enforcer For Sharepoint
EmpowerID Role Enforcer for SharePoint Enables Access Control of Policy for All SharePoint Server 2007 Environments

The Dot Net Factory introduced EmpowerID Role Enforcer for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, the role-based entitlement management application for SharePoint permissions. EmpowerID Role Enforcer for SharePoint enables enterprise-wide access control, auditing, and enforcement of policy for all SharePoint Server 2007 environments. EmpowerID Role Enforcer for SharePoint is available and is offered as an optional module for the EmpowerID Version 4.0 Identity and Entitlement Management suite.

"In today's business world, enterprises must have real-time answers to the most important audit and compliance question 'who has access to what and how was it granted'", said Patrick Parker, Chief Executive Officer of The Dot Net Factory. "Over 275 customers, rely on us to help them mitigate compliance failure and e-discovery exposures, improve productivity, and reduce administrative costs for many enterprise resources, including SharePoint environments."

EmpowerID Role Enforcer for SharePoint simplifies SharePoint Server 2007 permission management by providing a single centralized console for managing and enforcing a standard Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) security framework over all enterprise identity, roles and resources. The flexible RBAC system leverages Active Directory, HR systems, and other directories to control access and make policy decisions based upon a user's current job function and location in which they work.

EmpowerID Role Enforcer for SharePoint delivers:

  • Improved IT productivity and reduced administrative costs associated with SharePoint Server 2007 by allowing instant discovery of new sites, control of access permissions, and centralized management.
  • Leverage for your organization's directory infrastructure to control access and make policy decisions based upon a user's current job function and location.
  • Automated permission assignment and revocation as users change job duties or move between departments and locations in an organization.
  • Instant enterprise-wide reporting and attestation for all levels of compliance and audit.

Pavel Buzek wrote: Just a technical correction: the article says "Tomcat is a great reference implementation of the Java EE specification" ... well, of course it isn't. Tomcat is not even an implementation of Java EE spec (only a small subset of it) so it cannot be the reference impl, which is [https://glassfish.dev.java.net/].
Wayne wrote: Michael, This posting was exactly what I needed. Thank you Thank you Thank you !!!
Rob wrote: The third solution is very interesting, but a bit vague on a key detail. How are you proposing you encrypt this data? Are you storing the encryption key were the tomcat server has access to it in clear text? As long as that is so there is still no secret, just an extra hurdle.

Madhu wrote: Hi Michael, Your article is great and helped me since it was exactly what I needed. The documentation for implementation in supplemental download requires the use of org.moss.jdj.dbcp-yyyy.mm.dd.jar. It provides a link to the location of that jar in the download, but the jar is not there. Is there some other location I can download the jar from? Thank you.
Rafael wrote: Michael, may I use the third example you provided the same way when specifying my connection parameters in an xml file located at %TOMCAT_HOME%/conf/catalina/localhost/myApp.xml? Regards
ebuild wrote: You said : " Tomcat is a great reference implementation of the Java EE..." Be more accurate, Tomcat is the first reference implementation of Servlet specification.
