SYS-CON Media announced today that its 1st International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo sold out both on the Expo Floor and delegate registrations. The most anticipated technology event of the year in Silicon Valley will take place November 19-21, at the Fairmont Hotel, in San Jose, California.
SYS-CON will produce and present the Second International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo on March 22-24, 2009, in New York City.
Companies like IBM and other early technology providers in the space already signed up as sponsors of the next event.
"More than a half dozen conferences and events targeting Virtualization and Cloud Computing canceled in the past two months," said Fuat Kircaali, CEO of SYS-CON Media. "We predicted that this would be the outcome for many competing shows due to the current economic conditions," he adds.
"With close to 50 sponsors and exhibitors, and more than 1,000 preregistered delegates, SYS-CON's 1st International Conference & Expo would have maybe gathered 500 exhibitors and 50,000 attendees had these been still the pre-recession days," Kircaali said.
"We will serve the Cloud Computing industry, our sponsors, advertising partners, and delegates as the leading global event around the globe for the next decade," said Carmen Gonzalez, Senior Vice President of Sales & Advertising at SYS-CON Media.

Cloud Computing Expo Conference Chair Jeremy Geelan
"As virtualization has moved deeper into data center management, and especially as cloud computing has been coming into its own," said Conference Chair Jeremy Geelan, who is also SYS-CON's Sr. VP, Editorial & Events, "we've seen that the economic downturn actually increases Cloud Computing interest."
"Rather than writing that $2M check for your data center hardware refresh, wouldn't you rather manage your infrastructure as a service?" Geelan asks. "Moving part of your infrastructure to the cloud turns capital expenditures (or fixed costs) into operational expenditures (or variable costs)...it's a recession-beating no brainer!"

According to IDC, a global provider of market intelligence, cloud computing is poised to capture 25% of IT growth spend by 2012.
The distinguished speakers at 1st International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo will be covering every aspect of the hottest IT topic for years, with not just Amazon but also IBM, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Intel, HP and a host of others all offering, using or developing high-end computing services typically described as “cloud computing” - through which massively scalable IT-related capabilities are provided as a service using Internet technologies.
Forrester Research analyst James Staten calls cloud computing "classic disruptive innovation - where the mainstream dismisses the product and small companies have time to create a real differentiated value." But there are so many offerings just now that what infrastructure architects are looking for above all is a set of organizing principles they can use to guide them in choosing between them all.
Such principles. and a host of associated topics, will be addressed in San Jose next week by a Top Speaker Faculty that includes:
