DUBLIN, Ireland, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Orinda Software, Ltd., a leading vendor of JDBC developer tools, today announced the availability of a new version of their OrindaBuild JDBC access code generator. OrindaBuild V5.0 has been designed to generate Java source code that bridges the gap between users' existing Oracle database applications and web service toolkits such as Apache Axis. It examines Oracle's data dictionary and automatically generates the Java source code needed by Web Service applications that use PL/SQL procedures and SQL statements to access Oracle databases.
"It's been an extraordinary year for Orinda. As well as releasing V5.0 we've seen dramatic growth in revenues, moved into new office space and acquired blue-chip customers in the defense, telecommunications and insurance sectors," said David Rolfe, managing director of Orinda Software. "The new release changes the rules for Oracle users who wish to develop web services. OrindaBuild creates custom Java data structures for the results of queries or the parameters used by stored procedures, it writes human readable code, and it can write JDBC calls for procedures that take records or arrays as parameters. The fact that it doesn't require a pre-compiler is a great advantage to users of IDEs such as Eclipse, who until now have had to hand- code JDBC calls. The practical upshot of this is that it is now possible to expose PL/SQL stored procedures as a web service with almost no hand-coding of Java. This will lead to significant cost savings for users who want to expose existing database applications as Web Services."
