Shawn Cooney, Co-Founder and Director of Research at Certeon, will be presenting at SYS-CON's 5th International Virtualization Conference & Expo in New York City this coming March 30-April 1, 2009. Cooney, who has over 25 years experience in information and network security, will be speaking in a breakout session about how the benefits of virtualization can now be applied to transform branch and remote office efficiency and productivity. He will also be pinpointing for Conference delegates where new opportunities lie for realizing a truly dynamic enterprise.
"Thus far, virtualization technology has been directed at the datacenter—finding success with consolidation and bigger savings," Cooney notes. "But that’s just the first step toward a next-generation, fully dynamic enterprise," he says, adding:
"With 25 million working branch and remote offices, it is time for virtualization to take its impact beyond the datacenter."
His session is titled "Breaking Beyond Datacenter Virtualization."

5th International Virtualization Conference & Expo - New York City - March 30-April 1, 2009
Virtualization is reorganizing the IT industry. It underpins cloud computing by making it possible to separate the software from the hardware.Overall, the virtualization market has grown from approximately $560 million in 2005 to a forecasted $2.7 billion in 2009, according to IDC. According to Gartner, virtualization will be the highest-impact IT trend changing infrastructure and operations through 2012.
While data center virtualization is still the #1 market segment, it’s starting to get competition from application virtualization, storage virtualization, I/O virtualization and virtualization for end users - so called endpoint virtualization. In fact, in almost any credible survey of Top Technology Trends for 2009, Virtualization and Cloud Computing top the list. In Gartner's Top 10 Strategic Technologies for 2009, it ranked #1, up from #5 last year.

Cloud Computing Is Swelling Into an Estimated $36BN Market
The Cloud Computing conference theme this March is “The Delivery of IT Resources as Services” - with 100+ breakout sessions by leading industry CEOs and CTOs whose companies already recognize that what today's companies need above all is to be able to build infrastructures that can scale up or down at a moment's notice.
Over the next five years, IDC expects spending on IT cloud services to grow almost threefold, reaching $42 billion by 2012 and accounting for some 9% of total software sales. More importantly, spending on cloud computing will accelerate throughout the forecast period, capturing 25% of IT spending growth in 2012 and nearly a third of growth the following year.
Cloud computing helps IT cut infrastructure costs while adding new features and services to grow core businesses. Clouds can help grow margins as costs are cut back but service offerings are expanded.
