Muglia Promoted to President

Muglia made president of $13 billion-a-year MS unit

Microsoft has promoted Bob Muglia, making him president of its $13 billion-a-year server and tools unit, one of only four divisional presidents at the company.

The Wall Street Journal suggests that Microsoft is trying to divert attention away from high-profile businesses like Windows that may get hit by the economy whereas the server unit, which Muglia has been running for the last three years, has seen 25 consecutive quarters of double-digit growth.

Microsoft is getting 20% of its revenues from servers.
