OPNET Technologies announced new capabilities for IT Guru
Systems Planner, a software solution for managing systems capacity across
physical and virtual servers. This latest release introduces Virtual Machine
Quick Predict (VMQP) to quickly predict the performance impact of server
consolidation and virtualization, enabling IT enterprises to make qualified
decisions and investments regarding virtualization.
Numerous industry analysts and publications have cited the
high rate of adoption of server virtualization by IT enterprises. IT Guru
Systems Planner VMQP features guided workflows for users to assess the workload
of current servers, and predict whether resources can be utilized more
efficiently through virtualization. The capacity required for the host server
and each virtual machine is then determined automatically, leveraging
simulation-based analysis to consider different applications and user volumes.
With IT Guru Systems Planner, organizations are able to prioritize their server
migrations more effectively, maximizing the return on their investment in
virtualization.
Alain Cohen, OPNET’s President and Chief Technology Officer,
stated, “IT Guru Systems Planner is an effective solution for mitigating risk
associated with Physical to Virtual (P2V) server consolidation. Its powerful
capabilities for simulation, analytics, and capacity planning enable users to
balance cost, configuration, and performance.”
